The day has finally come. A day I’ve been dreaming about for years. I am officially a gym owner and it’s right in my backyard!
The construction crew showed up at 8am sharp. As I sit here and write this, I’m filled with so many emotions. This has been one of my biggest accomplishments thus far, so I’ll give you a quick backstory. I originally started my fitness business in 2014 and has been online up until now. I’ve decided to expand and offer IN PERSON training by opening a gym of my own which all started this past July. This was a project I decided to take on myself instead of hiring a general contractor to do it. I wanted the challenge and to prove to myself I could do it. Let me tell you… there were a few “bumps” in the road to get where we are today, but it was SO worth it. Building permit, concrete demolition, construction company – what an ordeal.
Working with the city was a struggle, however, I understand they have rules and guidelines to follow. I was in the drivers’ seat when it came to designing the shed – all the specifications, dimensions, material, color, you name it. The not so exciting part was having my intelligence judged by the 1st salesman who was “assisting” me with the design build. That’s a story for another day.
It’s moving along and the electrical will be completed this month. I hope to have it insulated, the sheet rock up, painted and flooring done by mid-November. The hardest part for me is being patient, but I know everything is happening at the right time and I will trust that. The next full update will be in next month’s newsletter.
